OACP-LAwS Communications “Social Media Fundamentals for Law Enforcement” Course

Through the Ontario Media Relations Officers Network (OMRON), the OACP continues to support the efforts by Ontario police organizations to proactively use social media tools as part of their communications toolbox. We are pleased to advise that the OACP is partnering with LAwS Communications to bring a comprehensive two-day LAwS Academy training course on social media use in law enforcement to Ontario. The conference will take place November 26 and 27 at Peel Regional Police’s Emil V. Kolb Centre in Mississauga, ON.

This two-day course has been customized for Ontario law enforcement professionals. It includes complete training in the use of Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and other emerging social media platforms and third party applications, all on day one. On day two, we will have Ontario social media experts instruct attendees on developing a social media strategy and policy, effective monitoring of social media, using social media in a crisis situation, etc. This fast-paced course is designed for the serious learner. It is intended to take law enforcement attendees with little or no knowledge of social media usage to a point where they're comfortable and knowledgeable and have a complete working knowledge of how to gain all the benefits from using social media and mitigate the associated risks.

Attached is an information flyer which provides more course details. Space on this course will be limited to less than 100 participants on a first come, first serve basis. Please register at www.lawscommunications.com/lawsacademy. Inquiries should be directed to Joe Couto at jcouto@oacp.ca
