OACP Announces Community Policing Award Winners

(Waterloo, ON) – The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s 2006-2007 Community Policing Award and Community Mobilization Award sponsored by Accident Support Services International:

2006-07 Community Mobilization Award

B.L.Y.E.P. – Black Leadership Empowering Youth Positively

Armand P. La Barge, Chief of Police
York Regional Police

2006-07 Community Policing Award

The Neighbourhood Safety Project

Brian Mullan, Chief of Police
Hamilton Police Service

“These initiatives are examples of the excellent programs many police services are developing and implementing in an effort to promote community safety and community mobilization,” said Deputy Chief Matt Torigian, Chair of the OACP’s Community Policing Committee.  “We are pleased, with the support of Accident Support Services International, to recognize the police officers in York and Hamilton involved with these outstanding programs.”

Recipients will be honoured at the an Awards Luncheon at the OACP’s Annual Conference and Tradeshow taking place June 24-27 in Waterloo Region.
