(Toronto, ON) – The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) is pleased to announce that the Kingston Police will host the OACP 2010 Annual Conference and Global Showcase in June 2010. The annual gathering of Ontario’s senior police leaders is the premier networking and educational event for police leaders in Ontario representing municipal, regional, provincial, national, and First Nations police services.
“The men and women of the Kingston Police carry on a proud tradition of dedication to the safety and well-being of every member of their community. This gathering in Kingston next June of the top police leaders from across Ontario is a tribute to the outstanding work and professionalism of all members of this police organization.” said OACP President Chief Ian Davidson.
Hundreds of senior police officers, provincial government officials, and companions attend the OACP’s Annual Conference. The Conference’s one day Global Showcase provides an opportunity for police leaders to view the latest services and products that support police personnel in their duties.
“Kingston Police are honoured to be hosting the 2010 OACP conference and are excited about having the conference back in beautiful Eastern Ontario for the first time in several years,” said Kingston Police Chief Stephen Tanner. “Our dedicated staff and volunteers are already planning an enjoyable and stimulating program for delegates, companions, and exhibitors. I hope that many are able to take this opportunity to enjoy and explore the very historic and scenic city of Kingston and the local area.”
The conference also has strong backing of the Kingston Police Board.
“When approached by our Chief and Deputy Chief as to the possibility of the Kingston Police hosting the 2010 OACP Conference, our Board gave unanimous and enthusiastic consent for this undertaking,” according to Carol Allison-Burra, Chair of the Kingston Police Board. “We look forward to welcoming the many participants, contributors, and family members who will be taking part in this valuable annual event and hope that all will enjoy their stay in the Limestone City.”
Chief Tanner has appointed Deputy Chief Robert Napier to lead the planning for the 2010 OACP Annual Conference and Global Showcase. Deputy Chief Napier currently serves as the OACP’s Secretary-Treasurer and has held numerous OACP leadership positions, including Vice-President, Zone Director, and Chair of the OACP Diversity Committee.
The OACP’s 2009 Annual Conference and Global Showcase will take place June 21-24 in Sudbury (www.oacpconference.on.ca).
