Police Leaders Express Deep Sorrow at the Passing of Provincial Constable V.D. (Vu) Pham

Police leaders across Ontario are saddened by the passing of Provincial Constable V.D. (Vu) Pham of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment. Constable Pham died on March 8 as the result of the injuries he sustained in a shooting incident.

The officer was confronted by an armed suspect when he tried to stop a vehicle near Winthrop, Ont., about one hour north of London . The suspect was injured in the incident and taken to hospital.

A 15-year veteran of the OPP, Constable Pham was a married father of three children aged 12, 10, and 7. He is the 104th Ontario Provincial Police officer killed in the line of duty since the service was established 100 years ago. Twenty four, including Constable Pham, were fatally shot and one was fatally stabbed.
