Financial Assistance for Safety Training (Marihuana Grow and Methamphetamine Operations)

WHEREAS police officers involved in the investigations into Marihuana Grow and Methamphetamine operations are required to receive special training on the safety issues surrounding these investigations and require special safety equipment in dealing with these hazardous situations, and
WHEREAS many law enforcement agencies in Ontario are not properly equipped to deal with these types of hazardous situations, and
WHEREAS some police services have purchased specialized safety equipment to conduct investigations while others have been unable to do so.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police call upon the Government of Ontario to conduct a study on the training and safety equipment needed by law enforcement officers to dismantle Marihuana Grow and Methamphetamine operations, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police call upon the Government of Ontario to establish a program to provide financial assistance for training and safety equipment for police services that are involved in the dismantling of Marihuana Grow and Methamphetamine operations.
