With the holiday season fast approaching, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) launched the 2025 Provincial Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on November 20, 2025. This year’s event was hosted by the Toronto Police Service with the support of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), other Ontario police services, and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. A R.I.D.E. blitz took place near the launch location after the media event, which promoted traffic enforcement and raised awareness about the many dangers associated with alcohol and drug-impaired driving.
The event was a big success, with many local launches (including one by Zone 1A members meeting in North Bay who banded together to do a joint R.I.D.E. launch) drawing needed attention to the ongoing challenges involved in impaired driving.
The OACP would like to thank the speakers, the representatives from multiple police services, as well as the many community partners who attended the Provincial Festive R.I.D.E. event. Among the speakers were police leaders, community representatives, and Connie Beatty, who delivered an impactful statement inspired by the loss of her daughter Rebecca in an accident caused by an impaired driver.
