The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), in partnership with General Motors and OnStar Canada, was proud to recognize Constable Amanda Hypolite of the Toronto Police Service this week with the Heroes Beyond the Badge Award.
Constable Hypolite was honoured for her exceptional leadership in developing Theatre Kidz n’ Cops, an innovative drama and dance program that has redefined youth engagement and strengthened community connections in the North Rexdale–Mount Olive area. This initiative has quickly distinguished itself as a meaningful and impactful program that addresses a critical need within the community.
Theatre Kidz n’ Cops was established after Constable Hypolite identified a significant service gap in the community: while athletic programs were abundant, accessible arts programming was largely absent. She responded with vision and purpose, using the performing arts as a universal and inclusive tool to engage youth who may not otherwise find a space where they belong.
