Celebrating Police Week
“Protecting Ontario Through Service”
For Immediate Release: May 11, 2026
(Toronto, ON) – The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN) are proud to designate May 10-16, 2026, as Police Week in Ontario.
Observed since 1970, Police Week brings Ontario police services and communities together to honour and celebrate police personnel for the extraordinary work they do every day. It also coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15.
Police Week brings Ontario police services and communities together to celebrate the role of policing in promoting public safety and well-being.
The provincial theme for the 2026 campaign is “Protecting Ontario through Service.” This year’s theme celebrates policing as a profession and emphasizes how members of police services work in collaboration with community partners to keep our province safe.
Throughout this week and the remainder of the month of May, the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General will be highlighting the many ways in which police members serve their communities. Police Week is also part of the National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.

Quotes:
“Protecting Ontario and keeping communities safe is a core priority for our government. During Police Week, we recognize and thank the men and women in uniform who step into harm’s way to protect our communities. They serve with courage and professionalism every day, and under the leadership of Premier Ford, we will always have their backs, with the support and tools they need to keep Ontarians safe.”
Honourable Michael Kerzner
Ontario Solicitor General
“Police Week offers us a chance to thank the many women and men who chose policing as a profession and commit to making communities safe and healthy places for everyone. Ontario offers people a great place to live, work, and play thanks to the hard work of our police officers and members and during Police Week, we highlight and celebrate the collaborations that make this possible.”
