For Immediate Release: Tuesday, June 24, 2025

Blue Mountains, ON - The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and its Corporate Communications Network (CCN) is pleased to announce that Constable Stacey Gordon of the Saugeen Shores Police Service (SSPS) is the recipient of the 2025 Catherine Martin Award of Excellence in Media Relations.

Constable Gordon has been recognized for her outstanding leadership in transforming the Saugeen Shores Police Service’s media and public engagement strategy. Blending professionalism with approachability, she has built a trusted and engaged online presence that not only keeps residents informed but also fosters meaningful community dialogue.

Working within a small police service of just 27 sworn members, Constable Gordon has taken on the responsibility of media relations in addition to her regular patrol duties. Her dedication is evident in the countless hours she devotes to crafting content, engaging with the public, and promoting police and community initiatives through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and the SSPS website.

Her approach combines humour, community spirit, and educational content to make police work more accessible and relatable. As a result, the SSPS has seen a remarkable increase in public engagement, support, and cooperation, including the successful resolution of investigations thanks to tips and feedback generated via social media.

Through creative storytelling, timely updates, and an authentic online presence, Constable Gordon exemplifies the spirit of the Catherine Martin Award—named in honour of the late Catherine Martin, a dedicated corporate communications leader at Hamilton Police service whose contributions to police media relations are a lasting legacy to her love of the profession. Her efforts have become a model for how police services can make a big impact through innovative, people-focused communication.

The OACP and CCN congratulate Constable Stacey Gordon for her exceptional contributions to modern policing and community building through media relations.

This annual award is made possible by the generous support from the Hamilton Police Service.
