OACP Antisemitism Statement

The OACP released a statement on Hate Crimes and Rising Antisemitism in Ontario, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to protecting the health, safety, and dignity of every person in our province. It condemned all forms of hate unequivocally and pledged that police leaders will continue to prioritize prevention, swift investigation, and enforcement to ensure every Ontarian feels safe and supported.

The statement stated that police are particularly alarmed by the rapid and significant rise in antisemitic hate crimes, specifically noting recent hate crimes targeting Jewish communities. The rapid and significant rise in antisemitic hate crimes is a concern for all police leaders in Ontario, and has recently included the brazen shootings at Jewish synagogues, residences, businesses, and schools in Toronto and a shooting at the U.S. consulate in Toronto.
