The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Maria Henein as its new Director of Strategic Stakeholder & Government Relations.
Maria brings a wealth of experience to this role, having served in senior positions across the Ontario Public Service. In joining the OACP, she brings not only deep expertise in government relations and stakeholder engagement, but also a strong commitment to collaboration and public service. As Director of Strategic Stakeholder & Government Relations, she will lead the association’s provincial and federal advocacy agenda on behalf of more than 1,200 police leaders across Ontario.
Before joining the OACP, Maria served as Director of Stakeholder Relations at the Ministry of Mental Health and Addictions, where she led the ministry’s stakeholder strategy across Ontario’s mental health and addictions sector. In that role, she advised the Minister and Associate Minister on complex policy and communications matters and oversaw high-profile, minister-led engagements across the province.
She also held the role of Senior Stakeholder Relations Advisor at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, where she supported Ontario’s housing supply agenda, and Manager of Digital Communications at the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, where she led the Minister’s communications and stakeholder outreach across the province.
Maria is recognized for her ability to build trusted relationships at the highest levels of government, navigate complex stakeholder environments, and translate policy into clear, compelling public narratives. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Finance and Political Science from the University of Toronto. Her appointment represents an exciting addition to the OACP team and will further strengthen the association’s capacity in advocacy and stakeholder relations, key priorities identified in the OACP’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan.
Maria will begin in her new role on June 8, 2026.
