The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) has taken a strong public position in support of Bill C-2, The Strong Borders Act, which is currently before the Parliament of Canada. The support of Ontario’s police leadership for Bill C-2 mirrors the position of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP). The CACP’s proposals for border security are essential in responding to the evolving and complex threats posed by transnational organized crime, which exploit gaps in legislation, in border control, and legal tools available to police and other agencies.
Related to Bill C-2, OACP members passed Resolution 2025-02: Advancing Lawful Interception Tools to Combat Serious Transnational Organized Crime at our 2025 Annual General Meeting.
