For Immediate Release: Tuesday, June 24, 2025
Blue Mountains, ON - The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) is proud to announce that the Toronto Police Service (TPS) has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 OACP Excellence in Information Technology/Services Award. This distinguished honour recognizes exceptional achievement in leveraging technology to enhance policing operations and public safety across Ontario.
TPS has been honoured for its development and implementation of the T.P.S. TRACKER, a first-of-its-kind software platform designed to transform compliance with Major Case Management (MCM) and Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System (ViCLAS) legislative requirements. Initiated in 2020 and launched in 2024, the TPS TRACKER software provides real-time data tracking, administrative analytics, and measurable data reporting, offering an unprecedented level of accountability and operational efficiency.
Key features of the system include service-wide ViCLAS submission tracking, a comprehensive “Measurables” section for MCM compliance, and modernized reporting tools. The platform led to a 30 per cent reduction in overdue ViCLAS submissions in its first year, directly contributing to more timely investigative linkages and improved public safety.
This four-year initiative reflects the team’s commitment to innovation and excellence, overcoming significant technical challenges to build a sustainable and scalable solution. The TPS TRACKER has not only strengthened internal compliance but has also attracted national attention from agencies including the RCMP, with discussions about potential wider adoption.
The OACP congratulates the Toronto Police Service for this outstanding achievement and thanks all nominees for their continued contributions to technological innovation in policing.
This annual award is made possible by the generous support from Magnet Forensics.
