The Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) was proud to present Sharon Wilmot of Peel Regional Police (PRP) with the OACP President’s Award of Merit in a special ceremony held yesterday at Peel Regional Police Headquarters. OACP Past-President Roger Wilkie, Deputy Chief of Halton Regional Police Service,
presented the award in an event with PRP Chief Nish Duraiappah.The OACP President’s Award of Merit is the highest honour conferred by the Association and was jointly awarded to Sharon Wilmot and Jason Fraser (York Regional Police) this year, both of whom serve as dedicated Co-Chairs of the OACP's Police Legal Advisors Committee (PLAC). However, Ms. Wilmot was unable to attend the official awards presentation with Mr. Fraser at the 2025 OACP Annual Conference on June 23.
As a co-recipient of this year’s President’s Award of Merit, she was recognized for her exceptional leadership, professionalism, and extensive legal expertise during a time of significant changes to policing legislation in Ontario.
The OACP congratulates Ms. Wilmot on this well-deserved honour and thanks her for her continued contributions to meaningful change within the policing community.
