Waterloo Region Police Service’s Backpack Challenge With Heroes Beyond the Badge Award

(Toronto, ON) - The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) will hold a media event where the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) and OnStar Canada will present a provincial Heroes Beyond the Badge award to WRPS for its annual Backpack Challenge.

The OACP was proud to launch its inaugural Reintegration Facilitator Course on October 16 to 20, 2023, hosted by York Regional Police.
The aim of the Reintegration Facilitator Course is to ensure consistent training and accessibility to the Reintegration Program within police services across the province. The goal of the course was to provide knowledge, skills, and abilities to those undertaking this critical role of Reintegration Facilitator and supporting members returning to work.

On October 9, 2023, the OACP issued a statement addressing the escalation of violence in the Middle East, which has caused incredible injury and death and devastated entire communities.
Since the outbreak of recent violence, police services across our province have been actively supporting all communities during these challenging times. This includes enhanced outreach to community leaders and extra patrols around faith-based locations/institutions, community centres, etc.
