Transformational policing is a cultural shift that advances justice and equity, builds trust, and encourages police services to make positive change to the benefit of their employees and the communities they serve. The challenge is balancing the operational needs of a policing organization with the human needs of it employees. This symposium explores the humanistic aspect of policing, that centres people first.
Police professionals will present their insights, promising practices and evidence-based findings on the people first aspect of policing. Topics include navigating difficult conversations, best practices on respect and civility in the workplace, and how to lead from a people-centred approach. Closing out the symposium is a panel discussion amongst police practitioners, who will share their insights on how they have been able to transform their organization through equity and inclusion, that encourages positive change for everyone in the workplace.
